Since joining this hobby a few years back I've picked up a lot of things along the way. I attempt to share what I've learned with whoever is interested. A couple of people that I met at an auction had just bought thier first Pinball machines. Not knowing that there was more to ownership than just the purchase, they found that they had machines in need of repair and some TLC. That's when they e-mail me asking if I would mind looking at them. I usually recommend that the machine be taken apart, cleaned, and put back together. This process is know as shopping. The results are that the game plays like new.

I recently shopped a Data East Hook for a guy and here is an e-mail he sent me:
"Al,

I wanted to thank you again for Hook... it's like a totally different game.
I find it more difficult. Also, it's a more balanced game now in the ball
almost always used to go to the right flipper and hence it got repetitive
hitting the back left corner. Now, the left flipper is as involved and it
opens up the right ramp and scoop. In addition, the ball is all over the
place! The fresh rubbers really create a lot of bounce.

I'm thinking about installing a revolving door for my front door as
about everyone I know has come over to see my "new" Hook.

Again, thank you!"

UPDATE: I am no longer taking in games for repair. I would direct you to Shaggy & Norm's "This Old Pinball" Video tapes or Clay Harrell's web page for information on how you can fix your own Pinball game. This along with the links on my Pinball page will help you to restore your pin to like new condition. As for video games, take a look at my video pages and some of the many links available to learn how to fix your game and make it play as good as new.
